Welcome to one of the best public liberal arts colleges in the nation. As one of the five campuses of the University of Minnesota, UMM offers the best of both worlds in higher education - a small, close-knit campus complemented by the power of a large, world-renowned research university system.
‘The Liberal Arts’ means an active mind in a healthy body. At UMM, one of every five students participates in varsity athletics, choosing from nine sports for women and seven for men. Members of the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), the Cougars have fielded championship teams in football, soccer, volleyball, men’s golf, and women’s track.
UMM's Computer Science program combines a strong theoretical basis with extensive hands-on experience to develop long-term concepts and skills, preparing you for a field that changes everyday. Students focus on the core of computer science such as algorithm development, software design, and hardware principles. In the third and fourth years, you can select from a variety of topics courses, many of which grow out of student suggestions.
What is civic engagement? Many use a definition developed right here at the University of Minnesota. It describes civic engagement as an institutional commitment to public purposes and responsibilities intended to strengthen a democratic way of life.
